Inside the season that’s inspiring my next collection

I hope your summer is off to a great start! We’ll be in and out of DC over the next couple of months, with trips sprinkled in to visit family and friends. We’re wrapping up the season with a visit to Maine — neither my husband, Johnny, nor I have ever been, and we’re so excited to finally visit. Introducing: Airplane Views

Inspired by a rare solo flight and the hush of sky above the clouds—my newest painting, Airplane Views.

When I first started painting clouds, I was all about the window seat. I’d spend entire flights with my face to the glass, photographing every shift in light and texture, completely mesmerized by what was happening outside. Something about being above the weather, seeing the layers from that high-up perspective—it never got old.

A special spring showing with CD Gallery

As has been my signature for a long time, each of my works was painted over silver or gold leaf, creating a luminous base that lets the light move through the piece and reflect the natural rhythms I try to capture.
